My Kitchen Heals offers a variety of customized wellness programs to help support your desire to make changes to your nutrition habits and lifestyle choices.

As  your Certified Integrative Nutrition,Health and Wellness Coach, I will listen carefully and help you to navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what changes are necessary for you. Depriving yourself of your favourite food just doesn’t work. balloonsMy approach is about adding foods in, rather than taking them out. It’s possible to incorporate favourite foods and treats into a healthy eating plan.  I teach you how to make healthy versions of “forbidden” foods so that you can incorporate them into your diet without feeling guilty. And, once you start eating nutrition-rich whole foods and fresh fruit and vegies, cravings don’t have the overwhelming power they used to.

Your personalized program will radically improve your health and happiness. Together, we will explore concerns specific to you and your body and discover the tools you need for a lifetime of balance.  Together we will choose a program that suites your lifestyle and goals.  Services can be extended for as long as you need to achieve your desired results. I walk the walk.  I’m not saying no traditional provider does this, but I have seen my fair share of overweight doctors or  a naturopath I once went to who smoked  or the dietician who puts white sugar in her coffee. This isn’t just a job to me — I’m deeply passionate about living a long, healthy, fulfilling life, and I want to share that commitment.  Changing what I ate dramatically changed my life and cured me off my illnesses and I want to share the way to wellness and that my kitchen and therefore your kitchen, really can heal!

No dogma. I’ve studied over 100 different dietary theories.  There is no single “right way.”  A key tenet of my work is the concept of “bio-individuality”; that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Going by this principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

I spend time with you.  Each of our sessions last 50 minutes plus you have unlimited email support between sessions.

I listen.  You’re the star of the show.  Tell me how you’re feeling, what you think, what you like, what you want to do.

I look at the big picture.  I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected.  Do bad habits sabotage your health and wellness goals? Does working long hours cause you to make poor nutrition choices?  Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Or perhaps you are already eating well, but are still not enjoying vibrant health – I can help you find what the missing ingredient is that has prevented this.   Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?  As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

man walkingYour goals, not mine.  I am not going to tell you that you should weigh a certain amount. I not going to tell you that you should eat raw food. You tell me what you want to accomplish, and I’ll help you get there.  I will never put you on a diet but I will show you how to eat well for life.

Step-by-step plan.  Once we establish what your goals are, I’ll create a step-by-step plan to help you get there, a little bit at a time.  I won’t overwhelm you with dozens of changes to make in the first two weeks.   It’s not a one-and-done meeting (like one dietician my father saw). We have structure, we have goals, we have plans, and there are regular check-ins to monitor how your goals are being met.

Accountability.  Don’t we all do a little better when someone’s holding us accountable?  That’s what I’m here for.  I’ll help you stay on track and be your rock when you’re wavering.

Support between sessions.   You are at work and it is a shared morning tea.   Or you are having a stressful day and just want to go home and eat comfort food in front of the television. Going to a restaurant and need help deciding what to order? Rewards, gifts, and incentives.  Throughout the course of your Program,  I’ll have a little something for you to keep it fun.

Resources and handouts.  Need recipes?  I’ve got them.  Going gluten free?  There’s a how-to guide for that.  Going dairy free?  I can show you.   I’ll provide you with information to keep and use for the long term.  Whilst I follow a predominately raw-food diet, this doesn’t work for everybody and I will give you recipes and resources for a variety of different nutritional pathways.

I set you up for long-term success.  You’ll learn the “why” behind my recommendations, so you can use them and tweak them according to your unique needs.  Plus, my program is structured to ensure that you make permanent changes that you can keep up for the long haul.  I want to help you listen to your body, understand what it’s saying, and create healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
