Despite the advancements in medical care, more and more Australians are being diagnosed with a new or reoccurring cancer than thirty years ago. Is it a coincidence or is there a correlation between the changes in diet from whole foods to highly processed food and a much higher consumption of sugar and these increasing cancer statistics? Although our genes influence our risk of cancer, most of the difference in cancer risk between people is in fact due to factors that are not inherited. Avoiding smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, staying active throughout life, and eating a healthy diet greatly reduce a person’s lifetime risk of developing cancer.

This workshop will focus on the role that nutrition, lifestyle as well as environmental factors plays in minimizing the risk of the most common cancers in Australia which are prostate, colorectal, breast, melanoma and lung cancer.
The workshop will examine the role of antioxidants in providing a natural preventive barrier to developing cancer. It will provide practical advice on how you can make changes to your diet to dramatically reduce your risk of developing cancer and at the same time, improving your overall health and wellness.
